Estudo comparativo sobre o perfil do professor bibliotecário : Rede de Bibliotecas de Basto e Barroso

Abstract

Esta dissertação visa conhecer e analisar a realidade do trabalho desenvolvido pelos Professores Bibliotecários da recém-criada Rede de Bibliotecas de Basto e Barroso (RBB) que incorpora bibliotecas escolares e municipais de cinco concelhos: Cabeceiras de Basto, Celorico de Basto, Mondim de Basto, Montalegre e Ribeira de Pena. No enquadramento teórico perspectivam-se elementos referentes ao papel que actualmente as BE’s desempenham nas escolas, salientando-se a sua importância no sucesso escolar. Apontam-se igualmente aspectos referentes ao perfil e funções do professor bibliotecário e as alterações introduzidas pelo modelo de auto-avaliação para as BE’s recentemente implementado. Pretende-se, no estudo empírico, comparar práticas de actuação de professores bibliotecários de escolas pertencentes à mesma rede interconcelhia, em especial nos seguintes parâmetros: a articulação curricular da Biblioteca Escolar com as estruturas pedagógicas; a articulação curricular com os docentes e alunos; os impactos da pertença à Rede Nacional de Bibliotecas Escolares (RBE); a identificação de lacunas e constrangimentos que eventualmente possam existir na acção dos professores bibliotecários; a valorização de pontos fortes e sua partilha. Por último, pretendemos apontar perspectivas de desenvolvimento para as BE’s desta pequena rede, baseadas nas oportunidades identificadas, nas boas práticas e no perfil do professor bibliotecário, que possibilitem a melhoria substantiva da gestão técnica, pedagógica, cultural e social das Bibliotecas Escolares, assente nas competências do seu gestor, de molde a que estas bibliotecas exerçam na comunidade educativa um trabalho proficiente.

This dissertation aims to understand and analyse the work done by Teacher Librarians of the newly established Network of Libraries of Basto and Barroso (RBB) incorporating schools and public libraries of five regions: Cabeceiras de Basto, Mondim de Basto, Ribeira de Pena and Montalegre. In the theoretical framework we try to elucidate about the role that school libraries currently play in schools, emphasizing its importance on academic achievement. It raises also issues regarding the profile and functions of the teacher librarian and the changes introduced by the model of self-evaluation for the school libraries, recently introduced. The main objectives for the empirical study were to compare working practices of teacher librarians from schools belonging to the network, particularly in the following parameters: the relationships between the School Library and educational structures of the school; the co-operation with teachers and the work with students; the impacts of the integration in the National School Libraries Network; the identification of constraints which might exist; the recognition of existing strengths and their sharing. Finally, we intended to point out some perspectives concerning the possible improvements we have identified for this network, based on best practice and the profile of the teacher librarian. Those improvements are focused on technical, educational, cultural and social development of school libraries, founded on the responsibilities of its coordinator, in order to achieve a more proficient work towards the educational community.
