dc.description.abstractThe last five years, was marked by a number of plans of initiatives and projectsgovernmental within the Ministry of Education, in order to make the jump qualifyings to put Portugal at the forefront of European countries for the construction of a society knowledge and technological modernization of the entire physical educational infrastructure. In addition, the significant contextual changes and the various social stimuli exposed by the New Information Technologies, posing new challenges and changes the positioning and management school at the present. Against this background, the school needs to adapt to new times, modifying in much the way it works and acts. The Business Scorecard (BSC) has, since its creation, a growing acceptance in enterprises and organizations, and its penetration was gradually extended to the public sector as a tool to manage and measure the performance of organizations. This study aims to investigate the feasibility of using this tool to support in the world of management education in public schools at a time that, under the circumstances, is in its infancy. It has therefore been taken as a basis a Public School with educational levels, between the 7th and 12th grade, covering an offer training courses for the 3rd cycle of basic education (7th to 9th grade), regular secondary education (10, 11 and 12 years), the Vocational Education degree with 12 years of Education and Training (CEF) and Teaching in the post employment, which include several courses. By using the BSC seeks to achieve significant improvements in performance and public service through the alignment obtained from structural measures, strategic priorities and operational efficiency.-
