Um olhar de dentro : o clima de escola na perspectiva dos alunos

Abstract

Esta investigação apresenta a perspectiva dos alunos sobre o clima da escola que frequentam. Abordamos o Clima de escola conscientes da importância que o seu conhecimento, em termos de diagnóstico organizacional proporciona na possibilidade de uma intervenção geradora de mudança e de maior eficácia dentro de qualquer estabelecimento escolar. Temos também presente, que a utilização do conceito de clima na investigação sobre as organizações escolares permite encontrar explicações para a existência de diferenças entre escolas, quer ao nível dos processos, quer dos resultados. O Clima é o elemento distintivo das organizações é através dele que se podem captar as expectativas explícitas ou implícitas dos seus actores, as suas normas e os valores partilhados, como realçaram Brunet (1995), Revez (2004), Blaya (2008) e Barros (2010), entre outros. Centramos a investigação num paradigma quantitativo através de um estudo de caso de uma escola localizada na zona limítrofe de Lisboa, tendo procedido à aplicação de um inquérito por questionário aos alunos, obtivemos uma “visão” de quem vivencia diariamente o clima da escola, os alunos, actores centrais na construção da dinâmica da instituição. A análise dos dados levaram-nos a concluir que na percepção dos alunos há aspectos que têm de ser alterados na escola, pois são foco de instabilidade e potenciam um clima de insegurança, enquanto outros são positivamente consensuais. Verificamos que os alunos têm consciência, dos pontos fracos do clima da sua escola, pois apontam claramente as situações conflituosas, a indisciplina dos alunos e a falta de clarificação da estratégia organizacional da escola como as vertentes em que é urgente intervir. Os alunos descrevem com acuidade a realidade que experienciam diariamente e avaliam muito positivamente as relações interpessoais que estabelecem com os seus pares e com os seus professores, mas a indisciplina é sem dúvida, uma preocupação e a falta de actuação adequada, por parte da escola, gera sentimentos de injustiça pela impunidade dos prevaricadores. Este estudo visa encontrar caminhos prospectivos para construir caminhos de futuro. A escola na procura de caminhos de eficácia e excelência tem de fomentar um clima escolar marcado pela percepção de que existem objectivos e metas comuns e que a comunidade escolar os entende e os partilha assim, há que unir a diversidade e incutir sentimentos de pertença em relação à sua escola.

This investigation presents students’ viewpoints on the existing climate in the schools they attend. We looked into the Climate of school, conscious of the importance that its acknowledgement can have (in terms of operational diagnostics) in the obtaining of change and a better efficiency within any school institution. We also hereby maintain, that the use of the concept of climate in the study of school institutions can help explain differences that can be found among schools be it in terms of procedures as well as results. The Climate is the distinctive element found among the institutions and it is through it that we can capture the explicit or implicit expectations of its actors, its standards and shared values as pointed out by Brunet (1995,) Revez (2004), Blaya (2008) and Barros (2010), among others. The methodology used in this investigation is based on a quantitive paradigm through the use of a case study of a school located on the vicinity of the Lisbon area. After having set up an enquiry via a questionnaire given to students, we obtained an "outlook" from those who experience the school climate on a daily basis; That is, the students who are the main actors in the construction of the institution's dynamics. The analysis of the data led us to conclude that in the students' points of view, there are aspects of school that need to be altered as they are the center of instability and result in a climate of insecurity whereas others are consensual in a positive way. We noticed that students are aware of the week points in the school climate since they clearly point out conflictuos situations, student indiscipline and the lack of clarity in the school's organazitional tactics as the areas that urgently need to be worked on. Students accurately describe the reality they experienced on a daily basis and evaluate, in a positive way, the interpersonal relationship they establish with their peers as well as with their teachers. However, the problem of indiscipline is without a doubt a concern and the lack of adequate action on the school's behalf leads to the feeling of injustice due to the impunity given to the perpetrators. This study aims at finding possible ways to the construction of future paths. In its search for the way to efficiency and excellency, the school must install a school climate marked by the felling that objectives and goals exist in common and that the school community understands and shares them as such. We must bring together the existing diversity and install the feeling of belonging in relation to one's school.
