Crianças sobredotadas : dinâmicas familiares, escolares e socioculturais

Abstract

Este trabalho de investigação objectivou conhecer e compreender os processos de desenvolvimento de algumas dinâmicas familiares, escolares e socioculturais de crianças sobredotadas residentes em Portugal (distritos de Setúbal e Lisboa) e que frequentam escolas (do ensino público ou particular) do 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico. Neste sentido, considerou-se importante explorar como se estabelecem as relações das crianças sobredotadas com as suas famílias, assim como com os professores e colegas nas escolas e com o meio envolvente em geral. Procurou-se também saber quais são as características positivas das crianças sobredotadas e quais as implicações destas características nas dinâmicas familiares e socioeducativas. Considerou-se ainda pertinente compreender de que forma as famílias e as escolas gerem as problemáticas inerentes às crianças sobredotadas e qual o nível de aceitação destas crianças nas famílias, por parte dos colegas e professores nas escolas, e no meio sociocultural em que vivem. Se as famílias e as escolas conhecerem e compreenderem as características e necessidades das crianças sobredotadas, se trabalharem colaborativamente e conseguirem construir uma plataforma comunicativa efectiva e funcional, poderemos dizer que estarão erguidos dois pilares fundamentais que irão certamente contribuir para a adequação e para o planeamento de intervenções que permitam potenciar e maximizar as capacidades e a criatividade destas crianças e assegurar que estas se sintam compreendidas, aceites e efectivamente felizes.

This research work aimed to know and try to understand the development of family dynamics, as well as school and sociocultural dynamics of gifted children residing in Portugal (districts of Setúbal and Lisbon) and who attend schools (public school or private) of 1st Cycle of Basic Education. We considered important to explore how are established the relations of gifted children with their families, as well as with teachers and peers at school and with the environment in general. We also aimed to know the positive characteristics of gifted children and the implications these characteristics have on family and socioeducational dynamics. We also find important to understand how families and schools manage the problematic inherent in gifted children and what is the level of acceptance of these children in families, by colleagues and teachers in schools, and by the socio-cultural environment in which they live. If families and schools know and understand the characteristics and needs of gifted children, if they can work collaboratively and build an effective and functional communication platform, we can say that two fundamental pillars will be erected, that will certainly contribute to the adequacy and planning of interventions that allow enhancing and maximizing the capabilities and creativity of these children and ensure that they feel understood, accepted and actually happy.
