Ficção e história em o ano da morte de Ricardo Reis de José Saramago : uma leitura comparatista para o ensino secundário

Abstract

O presente trabalho tem como objetivo primordial compreender o modo como o passado histórico – 1936, ano da consolidação da ditadura salazarista – se incorpora no romance, O ano da Morte de Ricardo Reis, de José Saramago. Tal compreensão, fruto da investigação e análise da obra, constitui, dentro de uma perspetiva comparatista, o ponto de partida não só para estabelecer uma relação com Afirma Pereira, de António Tabucchi, mas também com Sostiene Pereira, filme do realizador Roberto Faenza, com vista ao apuramento das semelhanças e das potenciais diferenças patentes nestas manifestações artísticas, verdadeiras representações do real. Investigar e analisar a complexa tessitura intertextual da narrativa saramaguiana, é cruzar-se com os grandes vultos da literatura de renome internacional, tais como: Camões, Fernando Pessoa, Eça de Queirós, Cesário Verde entre outros. São estas grandes figuras que, em concomitância com os jornais, trazem o passado literário e histórico ao presente do leitor que, ora deambula pela mão do narrador, ouvindo os seus comentários e apartes temperados com ironia, caindo numa profunda reflexão, ora se delicia com os diálogos travados entre as personagens, sobretudo, Ricardo Reis e Fernando Pessoa, propiciadores de um ambiente fantástico no romance. Servindo de suporte a investigação e a análise da obra, bem como o “Programa e Metas Curriculares de Português” (janeiro de 2014), delineia-se um conjunto de estratégias centradas numa metodologia comparatista, a desenvolver junto dos alunos do Ensino Secundário, alargando-se, no âmbito do projeto da semana literária, à comunidade educativa, com o intuito de se promover a leitura literária, bem como sensibilizar para as múltiplas vantagens provenientes da mesma.

The main objective of this project is to understand how the historical past – 1936, the year of consolidation of Salazar’s dictatorship – is incorporated into the novel O Ano da Morte de Ricardo Reis by José Saramago. Such understanding, the result of research and analysis of the work, is in a comparative perspective, the starting point, not only to establish a relationship with Afirma Pereira by António Tabucchi, but also with Sostiene Pereira, a film by Roberto Faenza, in order to establish the similarities and potential differences present in these artistic works which are true representations of the reality. Investigating and analyzing the complex intertextual texture of Saramago`s narrative means coming across great figures of internationally renowned literature such as Camões, Fernando Pessoa, Eça de Queiroz and Cesário Verde amongst others. These are the great names which, in concomitance with newspapers, bring back the historical and literary past to the present of the reader. In other occasions, the reader wanders by the hand of the narrator listening to his comments and asides seasoned with irony and suddenly falling into a deep reflection, or delights in the dialogues between the characters, especially, Ricardo Reis and Fernando Pessoa, propitiators of a fantastic atmosphere in the novel. Serving as support, the investigation and analysis of the book, as well as the “Programa e Metas Curriculares de Portugês” (Syllabus and Goals of the Portuguese Language) (January 2014), a set of strategies, based on comparative methodology, was outlined, in order to be developed amongst Secondary School students, then taking it into the educational community during the literary week project, with the intention of promoting literary reading, as well as raise awareness of its multiple benefits.
