Professores do 1º ciclo e biblioteca escolar : que relação?

Abstract

Ao mesmo tempo que a sociedade sofre alterações, elas são espelhadas na forma como os jovens são educados, no modo como são preparados para a vida ativa, para se tornarem membros interventivos. Nas últimas décadas, muito impulsionada pela denominada Era Digital, assistiu-se a uma grande evolução em termos educacionais. Por um lado, a escola deixou de estar associada apenas à sala aula, para representar um vasto conjunto de recursos que ajudam a preparar os jovens para a realidade e desafios atuais, por outro, os professores são convidados a cooperar e a colaborar com toda a estrutura escolar como única forma de contribuírem, efetivamente, para o sucesso escolar e educativo dos seus alunos. É no 1º Ciclo do Ensino Básico que se realizam várias das aprendizagens e se adquirem várias competências fundamentais para o futuro educacional dos alunos, tais como, a leitura e a escrita. Também é neste Ciclo que se devem fomentar alguns hábitos, como por exemplo, a utilização da Biblioteca Escolar. Mais do que em qualquer outro Ciclo de ensino, os professores têm de ter consciência da importância do seu papel, não só enquanto facilitadores de aprendizagens, como também enquanto exemplo que são para os seus alunos. É neste contexto que se insere a investigação que aqui apresentamos. Procurámos, através de um estudo qualitativo de caráter exploratório, perceber se os professores do 1º Ciclo do Agrupamento estudado reconhecem e valorizam a importância da Biblioteca Escolar, qual o grau de conhecimento que possuem sobre a biblioteca da sua escola e como a sua prática pedagógica reflete essa opinião e esse conhecimento. Depois de no enquadramento temático contextualizarmos a nossa investigação, apresentamos o estudo empírico onde explicitamos e justificamos as nossas opções metodológicas, fazendo, posteriormente, a análise dos resultados obtidos com o método de recolha de dados escolhido, o inquérito por questionário. Terminamos esta investigação com a apresentação das conclusões que nos foi possível obter.

At the same time that society undergoes alterations, they are reflected in the way that young people are educated, in the way they are prepared for the active life, to become interventive citizens. In the last decades, a lot driven by the so-called Digital Era, there has been a great evolution in educational terms, on one hand, the school is no longer associated with the classroom alone to represent a vast range of resources that help to prepare young people to reality and current challenges, on the other hand, teachers are invited to cooperate and collaborate throughout the school structure as the only way to, effectively, contribute to the success of their students. It is in the 1st cycle of basic education that several learnings are achieved and several fundamental competences are acquired for the educational future of the students, such as, reading and writing. It is also in this cycle that some habits should be encouraged, such as the use of the school library. More than in any other teaching cycle, teachers need to be aware of the importance of their role, not only as facilitators of learning, but also as an example to their students It is in this context that the research presented here is inserted. We tried, through a qualitative exploratory study, to see if the teachers of the 1st cycle that we select for this study recognize and value the importance of the school library, how much knowledge they have about the library of their school and how their pedagogic practice reflects this opinion and this knowledge. After in the thematic framework we contextualise our research, we present the empirical study where we explain and justify our methodological options, making, afterwards, the analysis of the results obtained with the method of data collection that was chosen, the questionnaire survey. We finished this investigation with the presentation of the conclusions that we were able to obtain.
