  • After months of persistent drought in China, recent heavy rains have caused the Yangtze River to overflow its banks. The image on the left shows the most recent vegetative health index: areas colored in yellow and brown are experiencing more stressful/drought conditions. The image on the right shows the accumulated rainfall for the same region from June 3 - 15, 2011. The blue areas received an excess of 1 meter of rainfall
