Modelagem léxico-ontológica do domínio patrimônio cultural de São Luís do Maranhão

Abstract

Esta tese apresenta um estudo exploratório da ancoragem ontológica do léxico do Domínio Conceitual “Patrimônio Cultural de São Luís do Maranhão” (DCPCSL). Trata-se de uma pesquisa de natureza teórico-aplicada que compreendeu uma investigação nas dimensões (i) linguística e (ii) linguístico-computacional. Na primeira, foram investigadas e sistematizadas as informações conceituais do DCPCSL e do seu respectivo revestimento lexical no português, com base nos estudos sobre ontologias (estruturação hierárquica, relacional e explícita de conceitos de domínios conceituais) e semântica lexical (estruturação hierárquica e relacional da informação lexical em termos de relações de sentido); na segunda, foi descrita e implementada uma parcela dessas informações no editor de ontologias Protégé, em que se implementou a relação entre a ontologia e o respectivo léxico. Em termos teóricos, o estudo visou à elaboração de um modelo léxico-ontológico de descrição das unidades conceituais e léxicas do DCPCSL. Para isso, delimitaram-se, para a constituição da ontologia do DCPCSL, as principais categorias e relações conceituais que o constituem e, para a constituição do léxico associado a essa ontologia, as unidades léxicas mais salientes e as relações de sentido paradigmáticas e sintagmáticas que se estabelecem entre elas. Adotou-se, como procedimento metodológico para a realização do estudo aplicado, a pesquisa documental em dicionários, teses, dissertações, artigos científicos, legislação e principalmente no Inventário dos Bens Culturais do Ministério da Cultura (MINC). This dissertation presents an exploratory study of the ontological grounding of the lexicon of the conceptual domain defined as São Luís do Maranhão Cultural Heritage Domain (SLCHD). This is a piece of research of theoretical and applied nature that comprised an investigation into both the linguistic dimension and the computational-linguistic dimension. In the former, it was investigated and systematized the SLCHD conceptual information and its respective lexical coating in Portuguese, based on studies of ontologies (i.e. the study of the hierarchical, relational, and explicit structure of concepts of conceptual domains) and lexical semantics (i.e. the study of the relational and hierarchical structure of lexical information in terms of sense relations); in the latter, it was described and implemented a portion of that information in a specific ontology editor, Protégé, in which it was implemented the relation between the SLCHD ontology and its lexicon. In theoretical terms, the study aimed to develop a model of lexical-ontological description of the lexical and conceptual units of the SLCHD. Accordingly, to construct the SLCHD ontology, its main conceptual categories and relations were singled out, to limit the lexicon associated with that ontology, the most salient lexical units and the paradigmatic and syntagmatic sense relations between them were compiled. For the completion of the applied study, it was adopted as a methodological procedure, the lexical-conceptual analysis of information in dictionaries, thesis, dissertations, journal articles, legislation documents, and especially in the Inventory of Cultural Property of the Brasilian Ministry of Culture (MINC).
