Imigração laboral intrarregional: ilegalidade e trabalho precário nos complexos têxteis-vestuários metropolitanos

Abstract

The present work attempts a comparative perspective of the apparel industry that make use of foreign workers in the São Paulo City and New York City. We have among the central hypothesis the increase of sector based in the use of illegal immigrants workforce and precarious work relations. Seek to understand the phenomenon from their own mechanisms cultures immigration historically established in these cities and in the productive sector. For such, we use a literature review about the transnational migration of workers and the sector productive organization. We expect to constitute theoretical instrumental that contributes for the understanding of the thematic and allow establishing links between the Brazilian and the U.S experience.

O presente trabalho intenta uma perspectiva comparativa das confecções de artigos de vestuário que se utilizam de trabalhadores estrangeiros na cidade de São Paulo e na cidade de Nova Iorque. Temos entre as hipóteses centrais, a tendente ampliação do setor assentado sobre a utilização de mão-de-obra imigrante ilegalizada e relações precarizadas de trabalho. Buscamos compreender o fenômeno a partir de mecanismos próprios às culturas imigratórias historicamente estabelecidas nessas metrópoles e nesse setor produtivo. Para tal, utilizamo-nos de uma revisão bibliográfica a respeito das migrações transnacionais de trabalhadores e da organização produtiva do setor. Esperamos constituir um instrumental teórico que contribua para o entendimento da temática e possibilite estabelecer aproximações entre a experiência brasileira e a experiência estadunidense.
