O conceito de estigma como processo social: uma aproximação teórica a partir da literatura norte-americana

Abstract

This article implies in a literature review to discuss the stigma concept for Goffman and some authors among others that developed their ideas from him. Among the chosen authors: Ainlay, Coleman & Becker; Link & Phelan; Stafford & Scott; Becker & Arnold; Martin; Jones, Farina, Hastorf et al; and Crocker & Major. So, we tried the first aim involves to relate Goffman and the authors who think the stigma concept like a process established by the social. The second goal aims to relate Goffman and the authors who think the stigma concept based on the relationship between the stigmatized person and stigma. The theoretical methodology is based on readings and discussion, since it is a theorical survey.

Este artigo consiste em uma revisão bibliográfica com objetivo de discutir o conceito de estigma para Goffman e para alguns entre tantos autores que desenvolveram suas ideias a partir dele – entre os autores escolhidos: Ainlay, Coleman & Becker; Link & Phelan; Stafford & Scott; Becker & Arnold; Martin; Jones, Farina, Hastorf et al; e Crocker & Major. Assim, buscou-se relacionar Goffman e os autores que pensam o conceito de estigma sob a visão de que estigma é um processo estabelecido pelo social e, relacionar Goffman e os autores que pensam o conceito de estigma evidenciando o relacionamento entre estigmatizados e estigma. A metodologia baseou-se em leituras e discussão por se tratar de uma pesquisa teórica.
