Excalibur: uma perspectiva pagã sobre a lenda de Excalibur

Abstract

This work tries to show to the reader a more mystical side of Excalibur and its importance to the Arthurian myth. As its origin is pagan indigenous to the legends of the Celtic people, they will be briefly introduced to the reader so that they can realize the time in which the Celts lived, who they were and a little about how they acted in accordance with their culture . It will also be exposed a brief overview about the character of King Arthur and all the changes that it has passed through according to what suited to the culture of each time. Two legends about Excalibur will be analyzed, so that both points of view Pagan and Christian can be disclosed according to the myths and theoretical texts used as a basis for this work. Finally, several analyzis about the sword will be brought to the reader so they can understand the complexity of myths and symbols that the Celts have left as a legacy

Este trabalho de conclusão de curso busca mostrar ao leitor um lado mais místico de Excalibur e sua importância para o mito do rei Artur. Como sua origem é pagã vinda das lendas dos povos celtas, esses povos serão brevemente introduzidos ao leitor para que possam se situar na época em que viveram, quem foram e um pouco de como pensavam e agiam, de acordo com a sua cultura. Também será exposto um breve panorama sobre o personagem do rei Artur e todas as mudanças que este sofreu de acordo com o que convinha para com a cultura de cada época. Duas lendas sobre Excalibur serão analisadas, de modo que ambos os pontos de vista pagão e cristão possam ser evidenciados de acordo com os mitos e os textos teóricos usados como base para este trabalho. Para concluir, várias análises acerca da espada serão trazidas para que o leitor possa entender a complexidade dos mitos e símbolos que os celtas deixaram como legado
