- Title:

- Increasing cancer cases in humans and animals requires techniques to perform early accurate diagnosis for treatment and prevent relapse. Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) with imaging have aided diagnosis and evaluation of surgical margins for cancers in humans. However in Veterinary practice, the application of these techniques for evaluation of surgical margins are still scarce in the literature. We discuss the relevance of fine needle aspiration and imaging diagnosis in the assessment of tumor lesions in animals and evaluate results obtained by various authors using these procedures in humans to verify its applicability and diagnostic value for intraoperative procedures in Veterinary practice.
