A biblioteca escolar e a biblioterapia : relato de uma experiência

Abstract

Quando o livro faz parte da nossa vida e partilha connosco momentos tão importantes, merece uma atenção especial da nossa parte. Como poderemos evidenciar ainda mais o seu contributo para a formação pessoal do leitor? Neste domínio, poderá entrar uma reflexão sobre a biblioterapia, realçando o valor psicológico da literatura, ou seja, a sua capacidade de reflectir sobre as questões da vida, da realidade e de nos conduzir numa auto-aprendizagem. Esta dimensão da leitura pode igualmente ser trabalhada pelo professor bibliotecário e na biblioteca escolar, porque é o profissional que conhece os livros e outros recursos capazes de serem utilizados pelo seu valor educativo e formativo. São estes os aspectos centrais que abordamos neste estudo, pretendendo-se, a partir dos contributos já identificados no campo da biblioterapia, reflectir sobre o papel do livro e da leitura no âmbito da formação e do desenvolvimento emocional, psicológico, social e afectivo dos alunos, em especial no que se refere a um tema delicado como é o tema da morte. Estes aspectos têm implicação a vários níveis, nomeadamente ao nível do papel do professor bibliotecário e das políticas de organização e gestão da colecção da biblioteca escolar. Estas questões foram cruzadas com as respostas obtidas a um questionário aplicado a um conjunto de alunos, e orientaram igualmente a apresentação de propostas de actividades a realizar, neste contexto, pela biblioteca escolar.

When books are part of our lives and share with us important moments, it deserves a prerogative on our part. How can we emphasize their contribution to the formation of the reader? In this field, we can take into account the value of bibliotherapy, that is, the ability of books to lead us to the reflection about life and to a self-learning. For a long time, the value of books as a basic tool for therapy has been recognized. This value of books can be taken into consideration by teacher librarians and in the school library because she/he is the professional who better knows the books and other resources that are capable of being used by its educational and formative value. These are the key aspects that we addressed in this study. We intend, from the contributions already identified in the field of bibliotherapy, reflect on the role of books and reading in the construction of the emotional, psychological, social and affective dimensions of students, particular in regard to the subject of death. These aspects have implications on several levels, namely in the role of the teacher librarian professor, and in the organization and management of the school library collection. These questions were combined with the answers to a questionnaire administered to a group of students, and also guided the proposals for activities to be undertaken in context of the school library.
