A metáfora do mar : do imaginário de Ulisses aos homens dos dóris

Abstract

O objetivo desta dissertação, intitulada, “A metáfora do mar: do imaginário de Ulisses aos homens dos dóris” centra o seu ponto principal de estudo à volta do imaginário marítimo português. Num país com ligações estreitas com o mar, importa olhar para a viagem oceânica no sentido de explorar a condição odisseica na qual o real converge plenamente com o imaginário, desde os tempos de Homero a Luís de Camões e, tendo o seu alcance principal, num grupo de pescadores, conhecidos, como os homens dos dóris. Na contextualização desta dissertação traçou-se uma panorâmica sobre as vivências destes homens em alto mar, contrastando todo um sentido alegórico e simbólico, revestido, na figura do herói mítico, Ulisses. No regresso – imaginário de ausência – fundamentam estes homens o seu dia-a-dia, solitário, submisso e sacrificado, em prol da família que os aguarda, ansiosamente, em terra. Assumindo o sagrado, como uma forma de regresso, navegam, tal como Ulisses, pelo olhar e acabam por percorrer uma trajetória marítima e de vida, onde se descobrem, interiormente. Esta investigação acabou por concluir ser possível tecer analogias, entre os homens dos dóris e o imaginário do herói Ulisses, criando-se uma contiguidade que fortalece e transporta os homens dos dóris à ressurreição do mito de Ulisses. Através da arte de pescar à linha do bacalhau, foi possível perceber a ligação e o poder que o mito conjuga na metáfora do mar. Depois nas memórias guardarão os homens dos dóris toda essa metáfora. E assim poderão proporcionar às gerações futuras, uma herança cultural em forma de identidade narrativa.

The purpose of this dissertation entitled “The metaphor of the sea: from the imaginary realm of Ulysses to the men of Doris” focuses its main study point on the Portuguese imaginary realm. In a country which is intrinsically linked to the sea, it is worth looking at the ocean voyage with a view to exploring the Odyessian condition in which the real fully converges with the imaginary realm, from the times of Homer to Luís de Camões and, chiefly focused on a group of fishermen known as the men of Doris. Putting this dissertation into context, a panoramic view was traced of the experience of these men on the high seas, comparing an allegorical, symbolic sense, endowed, in the figure of the mythical hero, Ulysses. On the return – the imaginary realm of absence – these men focus their day-to-day life, solitary, submissive and sacrificed around the family that anxiously awaits them on the land. Assuming the sacred aspect as a form of return, they navigate, just like Ulysses, by eye, ending up following a trajectory connected with the sea and with life on which they go on an inner journey. This investigation has just been completed be can make analogies, between the men of Doris and the imaginary realm of the hero Ulysses, creating a contiguity which strengthens and transports the men of Doris to the resurrection of the myth of Ulysses. Through the art of angling cod, it was possible to understand the connection and the power that the myth combines in the metaphor of the sea. In their memories the men will keep two men of Doris, all a metaphor of the sea. And in this way they may provide future generations with cultural heritage in the form of narrative identity.
