O amolador : um ofício de ontem na cidade multicultural de hoje : memórias de técnicas e vivências em Lisboa

Abstract

O trabalho que aqui se apresenta significa o culminar de um processo de investigação relativo ao modo de sobrevivência de um ofício antigo na cidade de Lisboa, tratando-se este do amolador. Assim, procurou-se, por um lado, compreender e proceder ao resgate de memórias associadas a um conhecimento artesanal em vias de desaparecimento e, por isso e dado o seu carater intangível, passível de poder ser alvo de patrimonialização, por outro, interpretar os fatores e condicionalismos por isso responsáveis, indagando simultaneamente sobre as estratégias desenvolvidas por parte daqueles que com resiliência mantém viva a atividade, adaptando-se, assim, a um quotidiano em constante mudança. Para tal, procurou-se, antes de mais, refletir sobre o conceito de património na sua génese, bem como as sucessivas transformações concetuais por que foi passando ao ser analisado por aqueles que sobre ele se têm vindo a debruçar. A diversidade cultural presente na realidade dos grandes centros foi também alvo de abordagem e reflexão. Ao convocar-se a memória e o processo narrativo de uma profissão antiga, analisou-se necessariamente diferentes registos e documentos históricos, por conseguinte, preparou-se o caminho que culmina com a apresentação dos resultados obtidos junto daqueles que são os protagonistas e simultaneamente objeto de estudo deste trabalho.

The work presented here means the culmination of a process of investigation concerning the survival mode of an old craft in the city of Lisbon, the latter being the grinder. The aim was, on the one hand, to understand and proceed to the rescue of memories associated with an artisan knowledge that is disappearing and, therefore, given its intangible character, which can be patrimonialised, on the other hand, interpret the factors and constraints that are responsible for this, and at the same time inquire about the strategies developed by those who with resilience keep the activity alive, thus adapting to an ever-changing daily life. In order to do so, we first sought to reflect on the concept of patrimony in its genesis, as well as the successive conceptual transformations that came to be analyzed by those who have been studying it. The cultural diversity present in the reality of the great centers was also the object of an approach and reflection. When summoning the memory and the narrative process of an old profession, different historical records and documents were necessarily analyzed, therefore, the path was culminated with the presentation of the results obtained with those who are the protagonists and simultaneously object of this study.
