Corpos à procura do mundo sagrado: sujeição às normas da renovação carismática católica

Abstract

A proposta desta tese é compreender o discurso carismático e como ele promove modificações na vida dos fiéis, além de desenhar a construção da identidade religiosa e de gênero que modificam o cotidiano dos carismáticos. Pressupõe-se que a construção dessa identidade carismática é determinada pela identidade de gênero, considerando que é construída por meio de um processo da internalização, o qual se transforma em habitus, definindo-se como uma ‘disposição incorporada’, uma nova postura voluntária das normas do movimento, que vai ao encontro de inúmeros aspectos pré-existentes da identidade de gênero. Para se verificar este pressuposto, foram investigados os diversos meios de divulgação do movimento, desde livros até material audiovisual a partir da Comunidade Canção Nova, além da realização de um trabalho de campo por dez meses, na Comunidade Hesed, na cidade de São Carlos, com o objetivo de compreender a procura das pessoas pelo mundo sagrado. Esta fase contou com a observação participante de diversos eventos da Comunidade Hesed, uma célula da Canção Nova, além de entrevistas com participantes e uma breve visita à própria sede da Comunidade Canção Nova. Ao realizar a pesquisa, pode-se constatar que a identidade carismática é pautada pelas relações de gênero, uma vez que, apesar de ambos os sexos, sofrerem restrições quanto às diversas questões sociais e morais, o gênero mais atingido é o feminino. A Renovação transmite a crença que as mulheres para alcançarem a salvação, necessitam se livrar da mácula de Eva, a que não se curvou aos desígnios de Deus. Assim, a identidade carismática, com base nestas imagens dicotômicas virgem/mãe e sensual/mulher, estabelece as diretrizes a serem seguidas pelos fiéis. The objective of this study is to understand the charismatic discourse and its influence on the followers’ lives, together with the construction of both religious and gender identities. It is believed that the construction of the charismatic identity is determined by gender identity considering it is created through an internalization process, which changes into habitus, an “incorporated disposition”, a new voluntary attitude of the norms of the movement that meets various pre-existing aspects of gender identity. Thus a thorough investigation about the means of dissemination of the movement involving books and audio visual materials from Canção Nova Community was conducted, in addition to a ten-month field study at Hesed Community in São Carlos aiming at understanding people’s search for the Holy world. This stage of the study comprised observation of followers during several events at Hesed Community, a cell of Canção Nova Community, interviews with the participants, and a brief visit to Canção Nova Community headquarters. Throughout this research, it could be observed that the charismatic identity is based on gender relations and, despite the restrictions on various social and moral issues imposed on both men and women, the latter are the most affected. The Charismatic Renewal makes women believe that to reach salvation, they need to free themselves from the sin of Eve, the one who did not behave according to the rules given by God. Thus based on these dichotomic concepts, virgin/mother and sensual/woman, the charismatic identity sets the norms to be followed by the members. It could be concluded that the charismatic supposedly search for fixed identities, which make them feel safe in the individualized society and establish group identity.
