A epêntese vocálica no português brasileiro: regra lexical ou pós-lexical?

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze theoretically the vocalic epenthesis in Brazilian Portuguese (BP) under the lexical phonological theory approach. Thus, the work is developed especially from the papers already produced about the subject. From this point of view, it was possible to observe a tendency towards the authors in classifying epenthesis not only as a lexical but also as a post lexical rule. This paper suggests otherwise that epenthesis in BP is a phonological process which eminently operates on the lexical domain.

Este artigo tem como objetivo fazer uma análise teórica da epêntese vocálica no português brasileiro (PB), à luz da teoria da fonologia lexical. Dessa forma, o trabalho desenvolve-se, sobretudo, a partir da busca de evidências na bibliografia já produzida sobre esse assunto. Com base nesse ponto de vista, pode-se observar uma tendência entre os estudiosos em classificar a epêntese como uma regra tanto lexical como pós-lexical. Este trabalho sugere que a regra de epêntese em PB é um processo fonológico que opera, eminentemente, no domínio lexical.
