Alterações dentoesqueléticas verticais e horizontais induzidas pelo ativador elástico Aberto de Klammt

Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the vertical and horizontal dentoskeletal changes induced by the Klammt Open Elastic Activator in the treatment of the Class II Division 1 malocclusion. The sample of 34 children was divided into two groups of 17 subjects each (ten girls, seven boys), matched by age and gender and with an initial mean age of 8.5 years. The data was analyzed using a Student's t-test for intragroup and intergroup comparison. The results showed that the appliance promoted dentoalveolar restriction of the maxilar growth within normal anteroposterior and vertical growth of the maxillary apical base; increment in the vertical displacement the mandibular symphysis associated with normal horizontal growth of the mandible; palatal tipping of the upper incisors; restriction of the anterior migration of the upper molars; greater eruption pattern and normal anterior displacement of the lower incisors and molars. It was concluded that Klammt appliance induce changes that are predominantly horizontal dentoalveolar in upper arch and vertical dentoalveolar in lower arch and vertical skeletal changes in the mandible.

O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar as alterações dentoesqueléticas verticais e horizontais induzidas pelo Ativador Elástico Aberto de Klammt no tratamento das más-oclusões de Classe II, divisão 1. A amostra de 34 crianças foi dividida em dois grupos de 17 indivíduos cada (dez meninas, sete meninos), pareados por idade e gênero, com idade inicial média de 8,5 anos. Os dados foram analisados usando o teste t Student para comparações intragrupo e intergrupos. Os resultados do trabalho mostraram que o aparelho promoveu restrição dentoalveolar do crescimento maxilar; incremento no deslocamento vertical da sínfise mandibular associado ao crescimento horizontal normal da mandíbula; verticalização dos incisivos superiores; restrição da migração anterior dos molares superiores; maior padrão de erupção e deslocamento anterior normal dos incisivos e dos molares inferiores. Foi concluído que o aparelho Klammt produz alterações predominantemente dentoalveolares horizontais no arco superior e verticais no arco inferior e alterações esqueléticas verticais na mandíbula.
